School of Education

This position will primarily contribute to teaching, research and service in the School of Education. The School of Education offers qualifications from associate degree through to postgraduate levels in initial teacher education (early childhood, primary, secondary and vocational education and training), sport, physical and outdoor education, as well as a range of pathway programmes (FAST, EAP, ELS) which support students across the university and partner providers. Our courses operate from campuses at Mt Helen, Berwick, Horsham and Gippsland and in partnership with community education providers, schools and partner providers across Victoria, interstate and internationally. The Senior Lecturer, Physical and Outdoor Education will contribute primarily to relevant programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in their area of specialty in the sport, physical and outdoor education programmes. They will also be expected to supervise postgraduate students and contribute to fostering research culture in the School.

About the role

Contribute to the development of courses and to the School’s research and administration functions.

You will:

Level B:

  • develop, teach, coordinate and moderate courses in physical and outdoor education;
  • undertake teaching and assessment of undergraduate, honours and postgraduate students;
  • undertake research activities.
  • supervise students undertaking project courses and honours programs.

Level C:

  • develop, teach, coordinate, and moderate courses in physical and outdoor education;
  • undertake teaching and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students;
  • supervise students undertaking project courses, honours programs and research higher degrees; and

make a significant contribution to research activity within the school.

About you

To be considered for this position, you will have demonstrated:

Level B:

  • commitment to scholarship and a potential for academic advancement;
  • commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching, and a good teaching record;
  • previous experience in academic administration;
  • evidence of research expertise and a demonstrated capacity and preparedness to achieve an active research profile; and
  • evidence of an ability to work collegially.

Level C:

  • commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching and learning, and a good teaching record;
  • record of research at an international level;
  • capacity to supervise honours and research postgraduate students;
  • organisational and administrative abilities necessary for the construction, coordination and administration of courses; and
  • excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
